Maryland's DJ was awesome to work with from our first meeting. The DJ we got- Steve- was incredible. Hiring vendors over Zoom during the COVID-19 pandemic was stressful but we could tell Steve would be perfect from our first video call. He even came to our venue walk-through to get a feel of the space and introduce himself. He took our 'must play' songs and made them all work perfectly. No one left the dance floor the whole time!

Steve was a fantastic DJ and we can’t recommend him enough! He was the DJ for our friends wedding so he was referred to us and we are so glad he was! Steve is very knowledgeable and helped guide us through our planning process while also listening to all of our visions for our day. Overall, I'd recommend Maryland's DJ for weddings and special events. As an outfit, they're as slick and professional as it gets. Their online tool is fantastic, especially if you're like we are and feel the need to carefully tweak the music selections over and over again! It's surprising what you'll find in their database, and you can very easily add your own music for whatever's missing. The uplighting was extremely tasteful (especially since our venue had a lot of decorative lighting to start with), and Mike Q kept people on their feet throughout the night. If you're the type of couple that largely just wants to leave things in the hands of the professionals after establishing a few guiding principles, Maryland's DJ would be a godsend. My husband and I are both pretty persnickety and neurotic about certain things, and thus there are a few areas we felt could've been improved. However, in this day and age it deeply hurts a business to leave anything less than a 5 star review unless they were truly lacking. Our criticisms are pretty minor, and meant to be constructive. A few announcements were a bit jumbled, and the audio quality on one or two songs was weirdly grainy. We left a lot of notes in the app prior to the wedding, so I can understand we may have provided a little too much input on certain things that didn't go exactly perfect. While we mentioned we wanted to get the slow dances out of the way early in the night to maximize folks' dance time, this was taken a bit to the extreme and my husband and I were still chewing our cake for most of our first dance. Nevertheless, these are all in the long run small issues that didn't detract from our happiness that day. Our guests largely didn't notice, either. We've heard so many DJ horror stories from other couples (and witnessed a few firsthand ourselves at others' events) that I would still say our experience with Maryland's DJ was generally fantastic.

We worked with Mike Q and had the most amazing experience. We told him our highest priority was to never have a lull in the dance floor and he absolutely delivered. Our guests were dancing all night long and everyone told us how amazing the DJ was. We had a crowd of all different ages and he did a great job of mixing in songs for everyone. We also talked about him playing songs fast and not staying on one song for too long, and he did this better than I could have imagined and he got through every song I wanted to hear and was able to take requests as well from our guests. Even the people in the bar below us were asking who our DJ was and said he was the best they have ever heard at the venue. He was also so professional and we loved working with him. Thank you so much Mike!!! Next time we need a DJ we will 1000% book him again, and you should too!

Great people to work with, great DJs!
This company was fantastic from day one, they set up a couple different virtual meetings with my wife and I and we just got a great feeling from them from the start. They are great people to work with. After hearing our music taste, they set us up with DJ Steve Hartka for our wedding and he was AMAZING. We got to make a list of "must play" songs, as well as "do NOT play" songs, and Steve took our music vibes and applied it to the rest of his playlist. We added the photo booth which was a huge hit with us and with the guests. These DJs know how to read the room and play the type of music that will get guests on the dance floor and stay on the dance floor. Thank you for a great event!

Simply Amazing!
We could not have asked for a better DJ company to work with for our wedding! Having a short engagement of 5 months was super stressful, but Jordan and Steve made choosing our perfect DJ a dream! We could not have asked for a better DJ than Steve from Maryland's DJ for our wedding. Steve was great to work with from the get-go: he was communicative, responsive, and super easy to get along with. Our music taste is very particular and Steve really "got" us. He even offered to spin vinyl at our party, which we were super excited about. On the day of the event, Steve was not only professional but also made our small (covid-sized) party a blast. His music choice and timing was perfect and he kept the party going until the end of the night. Many of our friends commented that this was the best wedding music they've ever heard. The most amazing dj
Jordan is an amazing DJ! Not only was working with him a breeze, it was fun and he was able to accommodate all of our requests! The communication throughout the whole process was great and he did not hesitate to ask for clarifications to ensure our day went perfectly! Our guests were dancing all night and many commented on how smooth the transitions were between songs and how seamlessly the music flowed! I recommend him and his team to EVERYONE!

We had an absolutely fantastic time working with Maryland DJ! We got married this past weekend and had about 140 guests in attendance. We worked with DJ Neil, and he was an absolute professional throughout the day. Our ceremony went on without a hitch, even with our family friend playing the keyboard at our outside ceremony space with support from Neil. He executed any announcements that we had flawlessly and made sure all of our guests knew exactly what was going on throughout the evening. When it came to the dance floor, Neil knew exactly how to keep the party going. I am very particular about the music played on the dance floor, and Neil took my playlist and really made it into his own. I felt that all the songs that I wanted to hear were played, and Neil masterfully read the room and played songs that he knew would elevate it to the next level. The dance floor was completely full the entire time, it was truly a wonderful experience. I would enthusiastically recommend Maryland DJ for your event, they really came through for us! Mike Q DJ-ed our wedding and did a fantastic job. He was flexible and worked with us on last-minute changes with outstanding professionalism. We had a variety of song choices, and he mixed them expertly. Whenever he played a deep cut that our friends enjoyed, he followed it up with a crowdpleaser to keep everyone on the dance floor. We also told him a "passcode" required to make song requests, and he announced that to the reception guests. We didn't intend that, but it actually made for a fun game. Our guests were interested in the passcode idea and thus made thoughtful song requests throughout the night. I'd recommend Mike Q to any couple looking for a high-energy reception.

Steve Hartka at Maryland's DJ is GREAT!
Steve Hartka from Maryland's DJ dj'ed our wedding at The Hotel at UMD and it was a huge success! The process started with a video call where he could demonstrate his dj style which was very cool. From there we were able to make a 'must play,' 'would like played,' and 'don't play' list to completely customize our playlist. We let Steve take it from there and he had our guests dancing all night long. We had UMD's mascot Testudo show up and Steve was happy to announce on cue and play the fight song. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great dj for any event!

He did a great job with DJ and MC duty, and also helped us manage the flow of the wedding when we faced some delays and had to move some things around. After going to multiple weddings with boring, unorganized DJs who played awkward and cringeworthy music, my husband and I knew we wanted better for our wedding. That’s how we found Jordan at Maryland DJ. From our amazing initial meeting, where Jordan mixed our favorite songs into a mini-set list, I knew Jordan was the perfect choice for the fun, energetic wedding we wanted. Our family and friends have not stopped praising Jordan and our wedding’s music: “that was the best wedding music I’ve ever heard” and “every song he played was perfect”. Jordan kept the dance floor packed all night, including my 3 year old cousin and my 70 year old great aunt. He played one amazing song after another, totally embracing our music tastes. Jordan also makes the wedding process as smooth as possible. His portal helps plan your ceremony and reception while giving you plenty of suggestions for “must-play” songs, parent dances, first dance songs, etc… At the wedding, he makes sure the ceremony and reception run smoothly through his promptness, his announcements, and his guest interactions. He isn’t corny or cheesy, but he will make sure everyone gets up dancing! We loved how thoughtful Jordan was through the entire event. He arrived early to the venue and even offered to help my dad and brother set up our chuppah. He checked in with us about 30 minutes before the end of the night to see if there were any last minute songs we still wanted to hear. And, when I put two musical songs on our cocktail hour/dinner playlist, he included some “Hamilton” and “Dear Evan Hanson” which made the night even more special and personalized. We can never thank Jordan enough for helping make our wedding perfect. If you want the best music and dancing at your wedding, Jordan is the perfect DJ for your event.

I initially discovered Jordan performing at my friend's wedding and reached out for my own wedding a couple years later. Maryland's DJ is super flexible and fun to work with! I had my brothers band play a set for my wedding and Maryland's DJ was very flexible to adapting this in so that it was a seamless transition between band and dj. They really take the time to personalize the music to you while also creating a vibe that gets everyone young and older up on the dance floor. Everything was so natural and well organized between Maryland DJ for each aspect of my wedding. They truly don't miss a beat! 😉 I couldn't recommend them more and now as I work in the wedding industry I have had the opportunity to see them on another level. From both my personal and professional experience they are my go-to recommendation to couples who I work closely with.

Brian was the best!
Brian was the best DJ!! We loved all the song choices and remixes and the transitions were amazing too! Everyone at the wedding was raving about how good the DJ was and we couldn’t have imagined a better dance floor. We picked some songs but then also told Brian to just keep people on the dance floor and he definitely delivered. Even the parents and aunts and uncles were dancing most of the night! Our only regret was not having more time for dancing!

We had absolutely a great wedding experience with Jordan. He met with us throughout the process to ensure that the music you played was representative of our traditions, loves, and other great tunes that were similar to what we enjoyed. Our guests were quite complementary of his work and we enjoyed that he kept all of us on the dance floor. Moreover he pronounced everyone, including ours, names correctly and had such great enthusiasm during the reception! We appreciated that he met with us over Skype again the week before the wedding to go over everything and ensure the finishing touches were great. Exactly what we wanted
We had Harvey from Marylands DJ and I could not recommend him enough. My wife and I are terrible planners and major procrastinators but Harvey kept us focused without making us feel pressured. We gave him a few ideas and he ran with it and executed it perfectly. The music kept our dance floor full all night. It also helps that he has an excellent DJ voice.

Our experience with Maryland’s DJ was incredible from the beginning! We met with a rep virtually who led us through an extensive presentation of all they had to offer. He asked us about our vibe and matched us with one of their DJs accordingly. Then we met with our DJ Jamaal. They have an awesome portal where you add in all of your music requests, even when to fade out, etc. We had a meeting with Jamaal a month out and he was very flexible with all of our last minute changes. We 100% recommend Maryland’s DJ for anyone looking for a fun, professional, company to work with.

Hands down the best money you’ll spend
I don’t even know where to start. Steve undoubtedly made our wedding night the amazing party that it was. My husband and I have a wide variety when it comes to taste in music. Steve found a way to play everything we wanted at the perfect time. They’re planning portal made it super easy to make sure Steve knew exactly what we wanted and didn’t want played. When it came time to dancing, I don’t think there was ever a time that the dance floor was empty. I still don’t have a voice from all the singing we did. Everyone keeps telling us that it was the most fun they’ve had in a long time and that Steve was the best DJ! He even got my dad to dance which If you knew him, you’d know is no small feat. All in all, our wedding day was absolutely perfect and the party we dreamed of- all thanks to Steve and Maryland’s DJ.

We were affected big-time by the pandemic. Not only did Steve and his team work with us on finding a new date. But we didn’t lose any money whatsoever. Then when the new date finally came we had an amazing time, nobody left the dance floor the entire night. Not to mention the Photo Booth was pretty amazing. Everyone at MD's DJ was so great to work with! Taylor helped with scheduling and coordination, and she was so responsive, kind, and a joy to work with! DJ Steve was originally supposed to do our wedding and he produces music as well as DJing, so when I brought him a first dance song that I loved but felt too long, he helped me rework it keeping all of the sentimental parts while trimming it down to a reasonable time. He is so great! Something came up and he couldn't make it to our event, so DJ Scott stepped in and was so great! Every song he played was met with cheers and our guests RAVED about him. He kept the dance floor full all night and everyone had so much fun!! Highly recommend Marylands DJ!!!

We are so happy we worked with Maryland’s DJ for our September 2023 wedding. They were extremely responsive and offered insight/suggestions when asked. Steve Hartka was our DJ and he was outstanding. Perfect Wedding Dance Party!
Maryland's DJ was so great to work with--very responsive and thorough in answering all of our initial questions. We especially loved that we could include a photobooth and uplighting with our entertainment package! And we'll add to the chorus of rave reviews for DJ Mike Q! He kept the dance floor PACKED and truly everyone had a great time--from our millenial friends all the way up to our 90 year old grandparents! Mike incorporated all of our requests, both songs and different special dances. He even communicated with us about a couple of plan changes we wanted to make just that day, and made it all run seamlessly. It was such a perfect, celebratory, and very "us" dance party! Working with Maryland’s DJ was a breeze from the start. Jordan was very informative and laid out all the information for us from our first initial call. We also had a Zoom meeting with Jordan and our DJ for the wedding - Steve, who also helped answer more questions. The portal they use is also convenient and helped us really think about all the details and music we wanted for our wedding, and it was relatively easy to use. Steve also checked back with us a few weeks before the wedding and we ran through everything with him, helping us feel more comfortable. On the day of the wedding, Steve and his assistant ran the wedding and worked with my other vendors to keep the day moving and things on time. Our DJ was Neil and we couldn't have had a greater time with him. Somehow he was able to balance my love for 80s music with my wife's modern pop. Needles to say, the music for the night was amazing. Neil was also a consummate professional when it came to coordinating all of the music and announcements according to our wedding timeline. In addition, the photobooth and uplighting raised the experience to a whole other level. Overall we had an awesome time working with Maryland's DJ and Neil specifically and would highly recommend them to anyone.

We decided to go with Maryland DJ after having a fantastic introductory call with the owner Jordan Solender. We booked DJ Mike Q for our wedding date and had access to easy planning tools to where we could add different "must play" and "do not play" songs. Sadly Mike Q ended up getting covid the Friday before the wedding, but Maryland DJ also always has an unscheduled DJ on staff in case something comes up and DJ Neil was able to fill in beautifully! He made the dance floor come alive, and we received so much praise from guests about the DJ's song choices. It was hands down the best dance floor I've seen at a wedding, and Maryland DJ was a major part in making that happen. Would definitely recommend Maryland DJ and DJ Neil!

We loved everything about Brian our DJ and our sax player as well! They kept the dance floor moving all night! We had some last minute timeline changes with our dances and toasts due to a delay with the buses and Brian was super flexible, no one even knew things weren’t as originally “planned”! Jordan was a great communicator SUPER responsive. We hired him for our wedding last October but had to cancel due to the pandemic. Had an anniversary party this pas weekend and he played all our requested music and was great. We also had a phot booth and it was AMAZING...highly recommend it. The only suggestion I can give is that he could of interacted more with the crowd and look happier! Aside from that it was a great experience and we have great memories.

We had an amazing time and Steve was an incredible DJ. We had a good feeling about him from our very first meeting, but he really pulled it all together for a great event. We know he was supposed to have some help, which unfortunately fell through, but we honestly had no idea until after the party. Steve went above and beyond and made it a very special event. He made us the center of attention, he had a perfect playlist, and mixed in our requests as well. We honestly can’t think of anything that didn’t go perfectly with Steve.
